Final Curbside Leaf Pick-Up For Charles City Residents Begins Monday

Charles City residents will get one final chance to clear their yards before winter, as the city’s final curbside leaf pick-up of the year will begin on Monday (11/17/25).

Residents are asked to rake their leaves into the street, but with an important guideline: keep an 18- to 24-inch gap from the curb. City officials say that space is necessary for equipment to work properly and to make sure rainwater can reach storm sewer intakes without clogging them with leaf debris.

The city also reminds residents that the Shaw Avenue Compost Site remains open year-round for those who prefer to haul their own leaves or need additional disposal options after the final sweep.

This upcoming pick-up will be the last leaf collection of the season, so residents are encouraged to prepare their yards ahead of time.

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
