Mayor, Council Say Goodbye to Longtime Charles City Councilman Freeseman 

After two decades in office, a Charles City councilman attended his final Council meeting Monday (12.15) night.

Mayor Dean Andrews thanked Councilman DeLaine Freeseman for his service to the City and the Charles City community.

Freeseman, also the current Mayor Pro Tem, did not seek re-election, noted in a statement to KCHA/KZE, “I am completing my twentieth year of service on the council this year. Having retired three years ago, and my wife’s retirement last year, we are looking forward to having more time to travel and enjoy retirement.”

Freeseman added, “I greatly appreciate the opportunity to have served the community as a council person and have appreciated the confidence of those who elected me in the past. Thank you!”

With Freeseman’s departure, the City Council will be rounded out by Jeff Otto, who ran uncontested in November. He joins a Council that will begin the new year with Phillip Knighten, Patrick Lumley, Phoebe Pittman and Krista Noah, who officially claimed her first Council post in November, also running uncontested. Though Noah has been a councilwoman since she was appointed in August to fill the seat vacated by the resignation of Keith Starr.
