PAWS Pet of the Week – Karen the Cat; Adoption and Volunteer Opportunities at PAWS

COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS BROUGHT TO YOU BY FLOYD COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER:

This week’s Community Conversations features PAWS Pet of the Week, Karen, a sweet and affectionate cat who’s been patiently waiting for her forever home since early summer. PAWS volunteer Carrie Becker joins the show to share Karen’s story — from arriving at the shelter pregnant and stressed, to becoming a healthy, gentle, people-loving companion who just wants attention and cuddles. Carrie also highlights other pets currently available for adoption, including energetic kittens and a dog who’s been waiting far too long for a family. The conversation touches on adoption hours, volunteer opportunities, and the ongoing need for donations to help PAWS continue caring for animals in the Charles City area.

For more information on Karen, adoption hours, and PAWS events, visit pawscharlescity.com or follow PAWS Humane Society – Charles City on Facebook.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
