Guttenberg Management District
Recent rains and warm weather drastically changed river conditions over the past week, severely weakening ice along shorelines and areas with current, opening up the main channel and raising river levels, as well as disrupting fish feeding patterns. The river is slowly returning to midwinter conditions as colder weather returns. Ice is rebuilding; stay on well travelled areas until better ice can form. Snow is predicted to return; snow cover can hide unsafe areas of ice. Hopefully the injection of fresh water and oxygen can revive a typically slower midwinter bite. Last updated on 01/15/2026
