Charles City Area Dollars for Scholars “Snowing for Dollars” Fundraiser Friday (01.30)
Charles City Area Dollars for Scholars, a division of Scholarship America, will host their biggest fundraiser of the year this Friday (01.30) night.
Dollars for Scholars President Kathy Herrick says “Snowing for Scholars” at the Elks Lodge will help continue their efforts to help students with extra money for college.
Almost a quarter of a million dollars has been awarded in recent years.
Herrick says much of their scholarship funding comes from collections taken at class reunions by alumni, memorial scholarships, and local businesses, with a minimum donation of $500 required to have a scholarship in one’s name.
Friday night’s fundraiser at the Elks Lodge in Charles City starts at 6 pm. Tickets are $40 and include dinner, plus performances by the Charles City High School Speech and Drama team, and music by Neva Alden. There will also be live and silent auctions.
Scholarships will be awarded at a later date, with students reminded that the deadline for applications is March 2nd.
