Charles City VFW Canteen Remains Closed, But Hall Hosts Dinner Wednesday (01.28)

It was a week ago Wednesday (01.28) that the canteen/bar of the Charles City VFW shut down at the end of business for an undetermined amount of time.

Post Commander Denny Hull says financial constraints forced them to cease the bar operations, but also notes that the Charles City VFW isn’t the only one struggling.

The closure is personal for Hull.

Hull stresses that while the canteen/bar is closed, other operations at the VFW will continue.

The Charles City VFW will host a free will donation Wednesday (01.28) from 5 to 7 pm, featuring a baked potato bar with desserts.

Hull hopes the canteen/bar can reopen down the road with the help of monetary donations from the public. To donate, call 641-220-1955.
