PAWS Pet of the Week – Jane; Tortoiseshell Rescue Story, Adoption Update & Fundraising Events

COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS BROUGHT TO YOU BY FLOYD COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER:

This week on Community Conversations, PAWS Humane Society Assistant Director Jacie Peichel introduced Jane, a sweet and persistent tortoiseshell cat now ready for adoption in Charles City. Jane came to PAWS with hair loss likely caused by a flea allergy but has made an incredible recovery thanks to treatment and care from the shelter team. Jacie shares what makes Jane unique, the type of home she would thrive in, and why a quieter environment may be the best fit. The conversation also highlights a rare moment for the shelter — very few animals currently in-house, no dogs available, and strong adoption numbers — along with a look ahead to possible early kitten season and upcoming fundraisers, including the June 13 tattoo event with Emerald Ink in Mason City.

To learn more about adopting Jane, view available cats and kittens, donate supplies like cat litter or dog treats, or volunteer your time, visit pawscharlescity.com or follow PAWS Humane Society – Charles City on Facebook.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
