Floyd County Supervisors Sign Anti-Human Trafficking Proclamation

January was Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
However, Lyna Debner is not stopping there, because, as she told the Floyd County Board of Supervisors Tuesday (02.10) morning, the issue is not going away anytime soon.
Debner is on the Board of Directors for the Iowa State Network Against Human Trafficking. The Greene native is also the vice-president with the North Central Iowa Coalition Against Human Trafficking.
Despite their efforts against human trafficking, Debner says they face a stiff challenge.
Debner has previously said that social media has become the biggest enemy in the battle against human trafficking, which cannot be reduced by one individual, community, organization or government, so they continue to educate. Efforts also include special training programs for hotels and businesses to help spot signs of human trafficking.
She also encourages watching “Grid Shock,” a documentary film which deals with human trafficking that occurred in Iowa.
Floyd County Supervisors approved signing an anti-human trafficking proclamation Tuesday, making them one of several local municipalities to also recently sign the proclamation with Debner. Among them: the cities of Charles City, Nashua, Rockwell and Mason City.
