The traditional Iowa Boys State Wrestling Tournament is using a different schedule for the 2026 competition.
In years past, wrestling across all weight classes ran Wednesday through Saturday. This year, only Class 3A wrestlers hit the mat on Wednesday (02.18), with Class 1A and 2A starting on Thursday (02.19).
Among the 2A schools is New Hampton Turkey Valley, with five state qualifiers coached by Matt Paulus.
Still, Nashua-Plainfield coach Shane Huck, with eight Huskies qualified for state in Class 1A, says there’s a trade-off starting a day later.
