Photos & Video: 33rd “First Ever” St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Downtown Charles City

The 33rd “First Ever” St. Patrick’s Day Parade made its way through downtown Charles City Saturday afternoon, with parade entries traveling a loop through the downtown area.

The parade began at 1 p.m. from Hot Shots, heading down North Main Street to Blunt, over to North Jackson, to Clark, and back to Hot Shots. Participants included a variety of walking groups, floats, and community organizations, along with the Drouthy Duck Bagpipers and Miss Shamrock.

Below are photos from this afternoon’s parade, along with video captured from our downtown Charles City camera showing part of the event as it passed through the area.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
