Northeast Iowa Man Arrested After Weekend Shooting, One Person Injured

A northeast Iowa man is facing felony weapons charges after a weekend shooting in which one person was injured.
Oelwein Police say officers were dispatched shortly before 9 pm Saturday (03.28) on a report of an individual who had sustained a facial injury during a shooting incident at a residence in the 500 block of 8th Street Southwest.
At the scene, officers determined that an adult male victim had been shot with a .22 caliber firearm following a dispute. Officers provided immediate medical aid to the victim until the arrival of MercyOne Ambulance, which transported the man to the MercyOne Emergency Department for additional treatment.
As a result of the investigation, OPD arrested 69-year-old Donald Forney of Oelwein on charges of willful injury causing serious injury and intimidation with a dangerous weapon with intent to injure or provoke fear, both Class C felonies; plus going armed with intent, a Class D felony. Forney also faces a charge of assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.
The investigation continues and OPD says additional charges are possible.
Forney was released from the Fayette County Jail on Tuesday (03.31) after posting bail of $10,000.
