City of New Hampton to Flush Hydrants Starting Monday (04.06)

The City of New Hampton will begin flushing hydrants, weather permitting, on Monday (04.06).
Street, Water and Sanitary Collection Superintendent Kyle Anderson says flushing will take a couple of weeks, with crews starting in the middle of town and then work their way towards the corporate limits. Anderson alerts residents that if you see discolored water, just let it run for a little bit and it will go away.
He notes it’s just a little rust from running hydrants and, while it looks funny, it’s totally normal.
Anderson also advises running water to clear your lines before using the water, especially before washing clothes.
The City of New Hampton has also set Saturday, April 25th for Spring Curbside Compost and Brush Pickup.
Residents are reminded that brush cannot be more than two-inches in diameter and no longer than four-feet long.
No barrels or bags over 50 pounds and all brush and compost material must be out curbside by 5 AM on collection day.
Contact City Hall with any questions.
