Former Oliver/White Farm Employees Reunite in Charles City

At its height of operation, the Oliver/White Farm tractor plant in Charles City sprawled across 23 acres and employed almost 3,000 people.

The facility closed permanently in 1993.

Last Wednesday (04.01), former employees gathered for an informal re-union at Dave’s Restaurant in Charles City.

Tom Mitchell said he worked at the plant for four years.

Mitchell says now he’s trying to collect the tractors he drove at the plant.

Organizer Dick Neal says reunion attendees have varied from year to year.

This year’s reunion was the third annual gathering.

Neal says just over 100 former White Farm/Oliver employees came out two years ago, with about 75 last year.
