April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, Blue Out Day Friday (04.10)
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
That’s Chickasaw County Public Health Administrator Lisa Welter, who says child abuse awareness is emphasized with “Blue Out Day” this Friday (04.10).
According to https://preventchildabuse.org, this year’s theme, Pinwheels of Possibility, highlights how partnering with families and communities can help prevent child abuse before it occurs. Prevention begins by ensuring families have access to the support, resources, and connections they need—before challenges turn into crises.
The National Children’s Alliance estimates over 530,000 children (unique incidents) were victims of abuse and neglect in the U.S. in 2024, the most recent year for which there is national data. That’s seven children out of every thousand, or nearly one in a hundred.
