Louis Streich, 90, of Charles City, passed away Monday, April 20, 2026, at 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City with Pastor Russ Leeper from Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service on Wednesday.

Louis Frank Streich, the son of Frank and Sarah (Krumm) Streich, was born on June 15, 1935, in Charles City. He graduated from Charles City High School. After high school, Louis served in the United States army as a mechanic from 1959-1965. Louis worked at White Farm for many years until their closing.

Louis was united in marriage to Sharon Swacker on March 26, 1960, in Floyd County. To this union five children were born: Lonnie, Rick, Carrie, Christie, and Rory. Louis was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing in his younger years and working on cars in his garage. Throughout Louis’ life, his best friend was his twin brother, Lloyd. They did everything together, and as they got older, they talked on the phone numerous times a day. Louis and Lloyd would reminisce about their time working at White Farm, chat while they played computer games together, or talk about the latest political news. Lloyd and his wife, Marlys, were always there for Louis and Sharon, and vice versa, and especially took care of Louis after Sharon’s passing in 2023.

Living family members include his daughter, Christie (Dan) DeBower of Charles City; son, Rory Streich of Charles City; daughter-in-law, Julie Anderson of La Porte City; grandchildren: James Streich, Kevin (Tiffanee) Streich, Quinn (Paige) DeBower, Cassie DeBower (Josiah Scobee), Triston Moon, Kayla Streich, Caleb Streich, Ryan (Lyndsey) Anderson, and Andrew MacMahon; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd (Marlys) Streich; sister-in-law, Karen Streich; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon Streich; children: Lonnie, Rick, and Carrie; and siblings: Leo, Leona, Leonard, Lucille, Lavern, Larry, and Betty Jane.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
