RRMR School District Remembers Former Educators, Instrumental Leaders

The Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock School District is inviting the community to honor the lives and legacies of a pair of former instrumental leaders.

A visitation for Larry Hicok is set from 4:30 to 7:30 PM on Friday (05.01) at the school. According to an RRMR social media post, Hicok was a dedicated educator, leader, and friend to so many in the school community.

Hicok began his career at Rockford High School as a business teacher before becoming elementary principal in 1970. Over the years, he would also lead all three of the district’s elementary schools—traveling daily between Rockford, Rudd, and Marble Rock. He helped shape generations of learners, impacting nearly 2,000 students and countless colleagues.

After the Rockford high school fire in 1989, Hicok was instrumental in helping rebuild and unify the district into one school, creating a stronger future for the community he cared so deeply. He retired in 2006.

The public is also invited to the Celebration of Life for Henry “Hank” Vogelman at 2 PM on Sunday (05.03) at the RRMR High School gymnasium with a reception and time of sharing to follow in the lunch room.

RRMR says Vogelman was a pillar of the school community. Beginning at Rockford in 1970, he dedicated decades to teaching physical education and shaping students both in the classroom and on the road. As a coach, he was known for his energy, high expectations, and his famous phrase, “Give me 10,” which pushed his athletes to give their best effort every day.

After his retirement in 1997, Vogelman continued to give back by substituting and teaching driver’s education.
