Another northeast Iowa road construction project is set to begin this week.
The Iowa DOT’s New Hampton construction office says, “If you travel on northbound U.S. 218 to reach southbound Iowa 58 near Waterloo, you need to be aware of an upcoming construction project that may slow down your trip.”
Starting Monday (05.04), crews will close the northbound exit ramp to southbound Iowa 58, one-tenth of a mile north of Iowa 57 in Waterloo, so they can work on a bridge deck overlay project.
The exit ramp to southbound Iowa 58 will be closed for the duration of the project. Motorists will follow a marked detour route using U.S. 218 and the Lone Tree Road interchange to travel around the work zone and reach Iowa 58.
The project is expected to finish in late July, weather permitting.
