Trio of Northeast Iowa Juveniles Injured After Their Car is Hit by Pickup

A trio of northeast Iowa juveniles were injured after their car was hit by a pickup.

The Iowa State Patrol (ISP) says the wreck occurred about 2:30 PM Wednesday (05.06), about eight miles east of Oelwein. A Ford Fusion driven by 16-year-old Landon Graber of Stanley was eastbound on Highway 3 and then attempted to make a turn onto I Avenue, when the vehicle turned into the path of a westbound Chevy 1500, driven by 45-year-old Michael Lockie of New Hampton.

ISP alleges that Graber was using an electronic communication device at the time of the collision. Graber, along with two passengers in his car, 16-year-old Edward Kiffert of Oelwein and 11-year-old Carson Graber of Stanley, suffered unspecified injuries and were transported by MercyOne-Oelwein Ambulance to MercyOne Medical Center in Oelwein.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Stanly Fire and First Responders, and Aurora Fire and First Responders also assisted at the scene of the crash.
