Bryan Boerschel, 68, of Charles City

Bryan Boerschel, 68, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Charles City with Pastor Matt Howlett officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City with a luncheon at the church to follow.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City and continue an hour before the service on Monday at the church.

Bryan was born on June 1, 1957, to Ervin and Dolores Boerschel. He grew up in Charles City, Iowa, and graduated from Charles City High School in 1975. He was affectionately known to his high school classmates as “Bubba.” Bryan carried the friendships and memories from those early years with him throughout his life.

After high school, Bryan went to Iowa State University and was a proud member of Theta Chi. He graduated with a degree in Construction Engineering and dedicated his entire professional career to Kiewit Corporation. His work took him throughout the United States and Canada, including California, Alaska, Hawaii (where he went through the Kauai hurricane), Texas, Georgia, Louisiana and Nova Scotia. At Kiewit, he built not only large projects, but lasting relationships and countless stories along the way.

He routinely vacationed with family and friends. After retirement, Bryan settled in Alexandria, Minnesota, where he created a welcoming lake home that became a gathering place for family and friends. Many cherished days were spent fishing, boating, swimming, and tubing on the lake, playing cards, and shooting off fireworks, creating memories that will last for generations.

Bryan will be remembered for his generous spirit, sense of humor, and the deep care he showed to those around him. To many, he was simply and lovingly known as “Uncle Bryan.”

He is survived by his brother, Bruce (Viva) Boerschel; his nephew, Bob (Erin) Boerschel; his niece, Becky Boerschel; and his grand nieces and nephews, Kinleigh, Kielyn, Caleb, and Derek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin Boerschel and Dolores Markle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, Cure MAPT FTD, and First Baptist Church.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
