Iowa DOT Discusses North Iowa Road Construction Projects, Lansing Bridge Progress, and Memorial Day Travel

Road construction season is ramping up across North Iowa, and Pete Hjelmstad with the Iowa Department of Transportation joined us for this month’s North Iowa Road Report to discuss several projects drivers will want to keep an eye on heading into the Memorial Day travel weekend. Topics included the latest on the new Lansing Bridge project, including plans to connect the final center section of the bridge in mid-June, resurfacing and bridge work near New Hampton, continued Highway 65 and I-35 projects, Highway 9 improvements near Osage and Riceville, and safety upgrades along the Avenue of the Saints. Pete also discussed new roadway safety measures statewide, including wider lane markings, centerline rumble strips, and enhanced interstate paint striping designed to improve visibility and reduce crashes.
