Decorah Meth Dealer Caught on Luther Campus Sentenced to Federal Prison

A Northeast Iowa man who obtained and distributed methamphetamine was sentenced to almost two decades in federal prison.

Information disclosed at sentencing showed that, in February 2025, 42-year-old Cody Reisner obtained meth from a source of supply in Des Moines, and distributed the meth to customers in the Decorah area. On February 26, 2025, law enforcement officers tried to stop Reisner’s car, but Reisner fled from officers.  

Reisner drove through a Luther College dorm parking lot and a grassy space of the campus before he stopped and ran.  After officers caught him, over 70 grams of meth were recovered from Reisner’s car.  

In December 2025, Reisner pleaded guilty to one federal count of possession with intent to distribute meth, which came after a prior conviction for a serious drug felony. 

On May 18th, Reisner was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams to 224 months in federal prison. He must also serve an eight‑year term of supervised release after prison.  There is no parole in the federal system.

Reisner is being held in United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison. 

The case was investigated by the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office and the DEA.
