Primary Election Day (06.02) in Iowa, Polls Open Until 8 PM

It’s Primary Election Day (06.02) in Iowa.
That’s Chickasaw County Auditor Sheila Shekelton during Monday’s (06.01) Board of Supervisors meeting. She also noted that there are no changes to polling precinct locations in Chickasaw County.
All voting Tuesday is only allowed at your assigned precinct.
A reminder that any absentee ballots that were mailed out, must be received in your county auditor’s office by 8 PM Tuesday. Any ballots received after that will not be counted.
***Area contested state legislative primary races:
=House District 59, which includes Mason City and the eastern two thirds of Cerro Gordo County, incumbent Christian Hermanson of Mason City is being challenged for the Republican nomination by Rugby Sliger of Mason City.
=House District 60, which includes Clear Lake, the western third of Cerro Gordo County, all of Worth and Mitchell counties, and the northeastern corner of Floyd County including Nora Springs, incumbent Jane Bloomingdale of Northwood is being challenged for the Republican nomination by Dani Ollenburg of Clear Lake.
=House District 55, where incumbent Republican Shannon Latham of Sheffield is not seeking another term, three Republicans have filed for the primary with Kurtis Bower of Roland, Beau Klaver of Kamrar, and Brian Young of Stratford. The seat covers all of Franklin and Hamilton counties, southeastern Wright County, and far northwestern Story County.
***Uncontested Primaries of note:
=Senate District 29, which includes all of Butler, Bremer and Chickasaw counties as well as most of Floyd County, there will be no primary battle with the only candidates being Republican incumbent Sandy Salmon of Janesville and Democrat challenger Jim Vowels of Waverly.
=In House District 58, which includes most of Floyd and Bremer counties as well as all of Chickasaw County, there will not be a primary battle. Incumbent Charley Thomson of Charles City is the only Republican candidate, with India May of Ionia filing for the Democratic nomination.
***Contest Supervisor Primary:
=Incumbent Republican Boyd Campbell is seeking re-election as the District 3 Supervisor, while Darrin White has filed to challenge Campbell in the Primary. The winner will advance to the general election in November, with currently no Democratic candidate to face at this point.
