June Primary Election “Uneventful” for Floyd County; Prompts Absentee Voting Reminder

There were no surprises in the final canvass of the June 2nd Primary Election results in Floyd County, where the only contested race at the county level was for District 3 Supervisor.

In that Republican race, incumbent Supervisor Boyd Campbell received 80% of the vote to defeat challenger Darrin White with 20% of the ballots.

LastTuesday (06.09), the Board of Supervisors made the results final with their canvass of results from an election that also brought no surprises for County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Morrigan Montagne.

There were smaller victories for Montagne and her election team as well.

In other notes from the Primary election, Montagne said a small number of absentee ballots could not be counted because they were not received by the 8 PM election day cutoff. 

Montagne said the Auditor’s Office and Absentee Board would send rejection letters notifying those voters whose ballots were not allowed.

Montagne has been Floyd County Auditor since January 1, 2025. Her first year-and-a-half on the job also included last September’s special election for the District 2 Supervisor seat in which Frank Rottinghaus won by just two votes over Josh Neupert. It was also discovered that votes in the Absentee Precinct were inadvertently counted in Test Mode instead of Election Day Mode, prompting an Administrative Audit to confirm the results (with no changes).
