City Hall/PD Renovation Project in Charles City Hitting Some Bumps in the Road

Renovation and remodel of the City Hall building in Charles City is hitting a few snags in the late stages of the project.

During Monday (06.15) night’s City Council meeting, City Administrator Tyler Trout and City Clerk Brittney Lentz explained one of the unexpected developments.

Trout noted that getting the correct doors will not be a cost to the City, but will be picked up by the contractor, Kingland Construction of Forest City.

Trout says much of the interior work has been completed, while remaining outside work has been hung up by Mother Nature.

Trout added that once the concrete work is completed, the City should be able to reopen the walking bridge over the Cedar River.

The Council then approved the latest pay request to Kingland of around $265,000; bringing the total amount paid out on the project thus far to approximately $4.3 million.
