Frank Peters, 93, of Charles City

Frank Peters, 93, of Charles City, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics in Iowa City.

A funeral Mass for Frank Peters will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service on Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Frank Michael Peters, the son of Harry and Mildred (Fulton) Peters, was born on March 25, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated high school in Grayslake, Illinois. After high school, he was drafted into the United States Army where he was stationed in Lawton, Oklahoma. He then attended the Arts Institute of Chicago. Frank was united in marriage to Kathleen Loughin on February 2, 1963, at St. Edmond Church in Oak Park, Illinois.

Frank was a very talented artist. He worked for The Welch Scientific Company in Skokie, Illinois illustrating the News Map of the Week for classrooms, worked 18 years for the Society for Visual Arts in Chicago illustrating film strips for classrooms, and for Snap-On Tools in Kenosha, Wisconsin designing logos and advertising. After retirement, Frank and Kathleen moved to Roswell, New Mexico for a few years before moving to Charles City, Iowa.

Frank enjoyed watching football, especially the Chicago Bears and Notre Dame. He loved being outdoors gardening, planting trees, and feeding the birds and squirrels.  Frank was a simple and quiet man, who had a great sense of humor that was often shown through his cartoons and drawings.

Living family members include his children: Theresa “Teri” (David) Allen of Charles City, Sharon (Lachlan) McLean of North Creek, New York, and Mark Peters of Clear Lake; 3 grandchildren; sister, Linda (David) Kardoff of San Diago, California; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathleen Peters; son, Joseph Peters; brothers, John Peters and Gene Peters; and sister, Louise Siebert.
