U.S. 218 Reconstruction Near Janes/Waverly Brings Traffic Pattern Change

Work on the U.S. Highway 218 pavement reconstruction project between Janesville and Waverly continues.
The Iowa DOT’s New Hampton construction office says drivers will experience a traffic pattern change on this section of the roadway that started Monday (07.06).
Crews have begun the next stage of construction by shifting traffic into a two-way pattern in the existing northbound lanes of U.S. 218, meaning one lane of traffic will run in each direction on what is normally a one-way roadway. As construction progresses, drivers should expect several more traffic pattern changes.
Residents on the east side of the roadway will only be able to turn right to enter or exit their driveways; left turns will not be allowed. Some access roads will be closed during this stage so crews can finish building permanent frontage roads and ramps and paving the main road.
The DOT says additional signage will be in place to help direct traffic through the work zone. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-December, weather permitting.
