Floyd County Adds New Weather Camera, Seeks Public Input on Hazard Mitigation Plan

COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS BROUGHT TO YOU BY FLOYD COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER:

Floyd County Emergency Management Agency Coordinator Jason Webster joined KCHA to discuss two important initiatives aimed at improving emergency preparedness across the county. Webster highlighted the county’s new weather camera installed on the Rockford tower, which provides real-time views for both the National Weather Service and the public to monitor approaching weather conditions. He also explained the purpose of Floyd County’s Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan update and why public participation is important. Residents are encouraged to complete a brief survey by August 14 to help identify local hazards and guide future planning efforts while maintaining eligibility for FEMA disaster assistance and mitigation grants.
Residents can access the new weather camera and find the Hazard Mitigation Plan survey through the Floyd County Emergency Management section of the Floyd County website. Questions can also be directed to Jason Webster by phone, email, or through the Floyd County Emergency Management Facebook page.
