Floyd County 18-Year-Old Among Drivers in Two-Vehicle, Wrong Way, Head-On Collision

A Floyd County 18-year-old was one of two drivers injured in a two-vehicle head-on collision over the weekend in which one car was driving on the wrong side of the road.

The Iowa State Patrol says the crash occurred at about 11 PM Saturday (07.25) night near mile marker 206 along Highway 18, just outside of Floyd. A Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 43-year-old Curtis Carr of Osage, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 18 when it struck an eastbound Nissan Rogue, driven by 18-year-old Lilly Moen of Rockford, head-on in the outside lane.

The ISP says both Carr and Moen suffered serious injuries and were transported by AMR Ambulance to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Both were wearing seatbelts, and the ISP said the seatbelts saved their lives.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Chatfield Towing.

The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.

Also assisting with the wreck were the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and the Floyd, Charles City, Rudd, and Nora Springs fire departments.
