New Hampton Police Department Set to Return to Being Fully Staffed

The New Hampton Police Department (NHPD) is set to return to full staff.
During their meeting on July 20th, the City Council approved the recommendation of Police Chief Conrad Rosendahl to hire Adalberto (Berto) Uribe Vasquez as a full-time uncertified officer.
Uribe Vasquez will need attend the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) to become a certified officer. Rosendahl says Uribe Vasquez will start that training in late August.
It’s the second officer hire this summer for the City. On June 1st, the New Hampton City Council approved bringing aboard Kassidi Havens, a certified police officer who had been employed by the City of Eldora. She started working for the NHPD on June 14th.Â
The hiring of Uribe Vasquez and Havens came on the heels of the departure of two former officers; one by choice, one due to unfortunate circumstances.
Jace Hall left to become a deputy for the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office. He started work for the County on June 2nd.
In May , the NHPD parted ways with former Officer Cory Frank, who had been unable to return to full active duty after suffering a back injury last summer. Rosendahl says Frank is welcome to reapply with the City down the road, provided he is medically cleared.
