Within Four Days, Mother Nature Postpones Two Charles City Community Events

Last week, twice in the span of four days, Mother Nature forced the postponement of an event in Charles City’s Central Park.

Inclement weather last Tuesday (08.04) forced the Charles City Police Department to move its National Night Out to Thursday (08.06) night, which scored with sunshine and temps in the 70s.

On Friday (08.07), soaking rains throughout much of the afternoon prompted Main Street Charles City at about 4 PM to make the call to postpone the final Party in the Park (PIP) to this Friday night (August 14th) from 5 to 9 PM. 

Charles City Chamber Director Mark Wicks says the program will include the same lineup, featuring the live music of RetroSpect with Jana West playing the iconic hits of the 70’s to today’s chart toppers. 

The Downtown Duck Dash has also been rescheduled to 7 PM Friday night, which also means the duck sales have been extended to the end of this week. Ducks are $5 each or get a 6-Quack for $25 or a Quacker’s Dozen (13 ducks) for $50 and can be purchased at the Chamber/Main Street office, from Chamber and Main Street board members, and at Party in the Park this Friday evening.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the first 20 ducks to cross the finish line, including a $1,000 Grand Prize.
