Carmen Tilkes, 93, of rural Ionia

Carmen Tilkes age 93, of rural Ionia, IA, died Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Colonial Manor of Elma.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Washington, with Rev. Chris Podhajsky celebrating the Mass. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, North Washington.

Friends are invited to greet the family from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Hugeback – Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in New Hampton, where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary and a 7:00 p.m. parish scripture service. Visitation continues one hour before services at the church in North Washington on Friday.

He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
