Remodeled City Hall in Charles City On Track to Reopen to Public Wednesday (08.19)

About two months later than originally planned, staff began moving back into remodeled City Hall in Charles City on Monday (08.17).
City Clerk Brittney Lentz gave an update during Monday night’s City Council meeting.
When City Hall at 900 Clark Street re-opens, it will have new office hours of 8 AM to 4:30 PM after Council approved the adjustment Monday night.
Lentz says it brings City Hall in line with most other City operations.
Councilwoman Phoebe Pittman noted other implications of the change.
The Council also approved the latest pay request of $295,000 to Kingland Construction for their most recently completed work on the City Hall project, bringing the total amount paid for the project to about $4.9 million.
The Council also voted to release “retainage” of about $141,000 to Kingland, while the City will hold about $103,000 in “retainage” until the final “punch list” of remaining items are completed, which includes some final landscaping.
