Janet Sheffner, 84, Floyd

Janet Sheffner, 84, life-long resident of Floyd, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026, at her home surrounded by her kids after a long battle with cancer.

A funeral service for Janet Sheffner will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City, Iowa with Jan Tjaden officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Croix Hospice.

Janet Kay (Bahlman) Sheffner, the daughter Henry “Hank” and Eleanor (Parker) Bahlman, was born August 16, 1942, in Charles City, Iowa. She graduated high school and was united in marriage to Ronald A. Sheffner on September 18, 1960, in Kensett, Iowa. This union was blessed with two children: Christopher and Kelly.

Janet worked at Pfizer and retired after several years of employment. She and Ronald loved their trips to Arkansas to visit their kids and grandkids. She had a love for animals all of her life, especially her cat, Missy. Janet was a huge fan of the Men and Women Iowa Hawkeye basketball teams (she LOVED her Hawkeyes)! She had many, many, many friends throughout her life, and special friends, Sue Bortz, Danny Tarkinton, Bob Hejna and the Hejna family, along with Linda Pearce.

Janet was known to be a strong, bull-headed woman. She was stubborn, but if she liked you, she loved you for life. Because she was a life-long resident of Floyd, she had generational friendships (the children of her friends).

Living family members include her two children: Chris (Tammie) Sheffner of Russellville, Arkansas and Kelly (Troy) Graham of Lamar, Arkansas; five grandchildren: Stephen (Chelsea) Sheffner, Missie Daman, Nicole (Spencer) Jaye, Heather (Nate) Greenwood and Holly (Mike) Call; great-grandchildren: Mia, Ryland, Tatum, Harper, Macey, Cadence, Kale, Camree, Ky, Kannon, Jaxx, Camdon, Jameson, Landon, Emmitt, Cayden, Luke, Noah and Easton; honorary granddaughter, Bailee Bortz; two great-great grandchildren: Hayston and Hudson; brother and sister-in-law, Bert and Sandy Sheffner; sister-in-law, Jeann Ann Berding, sister-in-law, Ruth Sheffner; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald in 2005; parents; son-in-law, Ed Eggers; granddaughter, Jennifer Bozich; and sister, Val Fisher.

Janet’s family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice and staff, Hannah, Sally, Cylea, Destiny and Kaitlyn.
