Feeding Hope: Jen Burton on Charles City Mobile Food Pantry’s Growth and New Logistics
COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS BROUGHT TO YOU BY FLOYD COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER:

Jen Burton, coordinator of the Charles City Mobile Food Pantry, shared exciting updates about the program’s expansion and logistical changes to better serve over 300 households monthly. With the pantry now handling 28,000 pounds of food, including deliveries to 75 homebound individuals, Burton discussed the challenges of managing increased demand and the innovative solutions being implemented at the Floyd County Fairgrounds. Key changes include a new client entrance off Packard Avenue to reduce bottlenecks, a streamlined exit process, and a call for clients to arrive no earlier than 3:30 PM to ease volunteer pressure. Burton also highlighted the pantry’s inclusive eligibility criteria and the critical role of volunteers in this growing operation.
