County, State Crews Ready to Up Speed Limit to 60 MPH Starting Wednesday (07.01)

Starting this Wednesday (07.01), speed limits on many Iowa roads that have been 55 mph, will go to 60 mph thanks to state legislation passed earlier this year. However…..

That’s Pete Hjelmstad with the Iowa DOT’s Mason City office, who says there are also exceptions to the new speed limit.

Floyd County Engineer Adam Miller says making the transition shouldn’t mean a lot of extra work for the County’s Secondary Roads department.

Miller says they’ve working to evaluate roads that may or may not go up in speed limit.

Miller says they’ll continue to deploy the speed trailer through the July 4th weekend.

Miller says, as far as the data gathered thus far, he hasn’t seen anything unexpected.
