Floyd Co. Medical Center Open House Saturday (07.18) to Show Off $40 Million Expansion

Floyd County Medical Center (FCMC) will host a ribbon-cutting and open house Saturday (07.18) to celebrate the hospital’s $40 million expansion, including a new rural health clinic.

That’s Heather Hobert, FCMC HR Director, who says staff is ready to show off their new facilities.

Festivities begin at 9 AM Saturday morning, including remarks from community and organizational leaders, plus light refreshments and tours.

FCMC’s invitation encourages the public to step into the “next chapter of Floyd County Medical Center together.”

There’s more construction coming to the Charles City hospital. FCMC was recently awarded a $27.5 million USDA Rural Development loan towards FCMC’s $39.5 million Phase I expansion plans for a one-story addition with five new operating rooms, increased space for the materials management department, and a new cafeteria and kitchen.

FCMC is also in the process of finalizing plans for Phase III for the Stille Cancer Center. Construction for Phase II and Phase III will run concurrently as two separate projects and be completed sometime in 2028.
