Foster Grandparents Need Grandparents, Hold Dine-Out Fundraisers

As the new school year fast approaches, teachers and students aren’t the only ones to ramp up their activity.
Americorps Seniors Foster Grandparents – Charles City is also gearing up and looking for more grandparents to join the program. Director Jennifer Lantz says they need grandparents in all four counties they serve: Floyd, Chickasaw, Mitchell and Cerro Gordo.
During a recent Charles City City Council meeting, Councilman Phillip Knighten, who also serves on the Foster Grandparent Board, saluted one of the program’s outgoing grandparents, Wanda Ward.
Knighten also noted two opportunities for the public to dine-out in financial support of Foster Grandparents, including one Wednesday (08.19).
Lantz says if you’re 55 or older, you can become a Foster Grandparent and earn a little extra money.
