North Iowa Man, Minnesota Woman Dead After Head-On Crash

Two people have died and another was injured in a head-on crash in North Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol (ISP) says the wreck happened at the intersection of Kirkwood Avenue and 440th Street, east of St. Ansgar, at around 4 PM Friday (09.04). A southbound 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 56-year-old Stephnie Lyons of Rochester, and a northbound 2008 Dodge Dakota, driven by 71-year-old Charles Yoder, Jr, of Stacyville, collided head-on for unknown reasons.

Lyons and Yoder died in the crash. ISP says Yoder was not wearing a seatbelt.

Seriously injured in the wreck was 71-year-old Yvonne Yoders, also of Stacyville, a passenger in the Dodge Dakota. She was flown to Mayo Clinic in Rochester by Mayo Air Med.

ISP is still investigating the crash.

Mitchell County EMS, the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, St. Ansgar Fire, and Hoff Celebrations assisted at the scene.
