Iowa Court System to Trim Number of Magistrates

The number of magistrates in Iowa’s courts will go down next year.

Chickasaw County Attorney David Laudner gave the latest update to the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors Monday (Oct. 5) morning.

Laudner added that there are several factors at play in establishing new schedules for the fewer court magistrates.

Laudner said while they work on that plan, he cautioned more such moves are likely on the horizon.

Laudner also noted that, even with the adjustments coming with the court magistrates, Chickasaw County is still required to provide space for those magistrates at the courthouse in New Hampton.
