One Open House Down, One to Go for Public Input on Wildwood Clubhouse in Charles City

Public reviews are coming in on the aging clubhouse at Wildwood Golf Course in Charles City.
The Park-Rec Board hosted the first of two open house events on Wednesday (Oct. 14) evening for residents to weigh in firsthand on the future of the facility, built in 1927. Board member Corey Mutch says those reviews, on remodeling versus building a new clubhouse, were mixed.
Still, Mutch says any public input is helpful.
Among those options, proposals for remodeling the clubhouse, ranging from $1.2 Million up to $3.9. Even with those estimates, Mutch noted that costs could be higher.
Park-Rec Director Tyler Mitchell estimates about 50 people came out to the Wildwood Open House on Wednesday, but they’re not done seeking public feedback. A second open house is scheduled for 8 to 11 am on Saturday (Oct. 17).Â
For those planning on attending, officials advise dressing warmly, because the building is not insulated and temps Saturday morning are forecast to be in the upper 20s to low 30s.
