Ribbon Cutting, Open House for Relocated New Hampton Daycare Thursday

The public can get its first look at the relocation and expansion of Great Plays Daycare in New Hampton Thursday.

The center was awarded an “Investing in Iowa Childcare” grant last fall of almost $750,000 to help make the move into a new home in an unused wing of First United Methodist Church on North Locust Avenue. Brian Carolan is on the daycare’s Board of Directors and says they’re ready to show off its new location and new look.

Board member Tammy Robinson says the staff is excited to get into the new daycare, which is getting a new name, Little Sprouts.

With the relocation and expansion, Little Sprouts will go from serving 54 kids to 97, but there are still about 20 kids still on their waiting list.

Little Sprouts will host an open house Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. with the New Horizons Chamber conducting a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3:30 p.m.
