Lifejackets Required for Every Person on Your Boat

National Fishing and Boating Week continues through this Sunday (6.12).

Jacob Fulk, DNR Conservation Officer for Floyd and Mitchell counties, says safe boating requires life jackets for everyone on your boat.

Fulk says that rule also extends to people your boat is pulling for tubing and/or skiing. He also advised checking your life jackets for wear and tear.

Fulk adds that the DNR enforces the life jacket requirements strictly and a violation could cost you $90 a fine.

Fulk says other safety equipment you should have on board include a working fire extinguisher and a whistle.
