Sen. Grassley Sees Campaigning Change Over The Years

The use of social media has changed how candidates campaign for office over the years.

First elected in 1980, U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley tells KCHA/KCZE news that campaigning has also seen the number of volunteers stuffing envelopes and knocking on doors decline. Still, one basic campaign approach remains constant.

Whether you cast a ballot for him or not, Grassley encourages exercising your right to vote; something he also stresses to future voters, too.

The 89-year-old Republican is seeking re-election to a seventh term in the Senate and is being challenged by Democrat Michael Franken, a former Navy Admiral.

The race has been tighter than expected. As recently as October 12th, a Selzer and Company poll had Grassley with only a 46% to 43% lead over Franken. However, their latest poll between October 31st and November 3rd showed the incumbent with a 53% to 41% advantage.
