NIACC Career Academy in Charles City Moves Forward for $1

For just $1, NIACC appears to be set to establish its Charles City Career Academy.

That’s Charles City City Administrator Steve Diers explaining the need for the acquisition during the regular City Council meeting Monday night. The City Council voted unanimously to transfer that portion of the City parking lot adjacent to the current NIACC Center for $1.

Mayor Dean Andrews says it’s an advantageous move for all parties.

After initially exploring building the Charles City Career Academy new on the Floyd County Fairgrounds, rising construction costs forced NIACC officials to look elsewhere before deciding to expand their current facility next to Hy-Vee.

The Career Academy will be a partnership that also includes the Nashua-Plainfield, Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock, Riceville, North Butler, Clarksville and Osage community school districts.
