Charles City Woman Charged with Assault, Indecent Exposure

A Charles City woman was arrested over the weekend on assault and indecent exposure charges.

The Charles City Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance in the 900 block of Gilbert Street just after 8 pm Saturday (02.11) night. Their investigation led to the arrest of 55-year-old Monica Brown for domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness, a serious misdemeanor.

According to court documents, Brown is accused of assaulting a male victim by throwing isopropyl alcohol in his face and hitting and scratching him.

CCPD says Brown also exposed her breasts and private areas to police officers during her arrest as well as to medical and jail staff while being booked into the Floyd County Jail. Authorities say Brown admitted to exposing herself for “her pleasure and sexual gratification.”

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office also charged Brown with assault on persons in certain occupations causing bodily injury, an aggravated misdemeanor, after she was accused of scratching a jailer on the neck while being non-compliant when she was being placed in a jail cell.
