Howard County Man Charged with Sexual Assault of a Minor Posts Bail

*A follow up to story we first reported last week

A Howard County man  accused of sexually assaulting a child in Charles City released after paying $25,000 bail.

Wednesday, March 1, Charles City Police arrested 61-year-old Randy Nibaur of Elma on a warrant charging him with second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony. 

According to the criminal complaint filed January 23rd, Nibaur is accused of sexually assaulting a child under the age of five on multiple occasions between November of 2018 and August of 2021. CCPD says the alleged incidents occurred while Nibaur was babysitting the toddler in his Charles City apartment.

The warrant for his arrest was issued the same day and Nibaur was apprehended last week.

He was initially held in the Floyd County Jail on $25,000 cash-only bond, which was posted Thursday, March 2, and he was released..
