The new Highway 218/18/Avenue of the Saints interchange at Floyd hasn’t seen road construction activity since last November. But that is scheduled to change this week.Â
Pete Hjelmstad with the Mason City District Office of the Iowa DOT says they are targeting Friday, March 24 for the changing of traffic into a head-to-head pattern in the new eastbound lanes.
Of course, at this time of year, Hjelmstad says what work they can do is precipitated by the weather.
The east/southbound lanes of the interchange were completed in November and traffic has been open in both directions since. Reconstruction on the new west/northbound lanes is expected to take until this November for completion.
