Floyd County Property Owners to Receive Assessment Letters

If you own any of the over 11,900 parcels of residential, commercial or agricultural land in Floyd County, you should be receiving a letter from the County assessor’s office.

During their regular meeting Monday, the Floyd County Board of Supervisors heard from County Assessor Brandi Schmidt, who said letters will go out this week for every piece of property.

Schmidt noted that assessed land values are up across the board.

While assessed values have risen, Schmidt says that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be paying more in taxes, thanks to state rollbacks.

Schmidt advises property owners who don’t agree with the assessment numbers to go to the assessor’s page on the County website for information on how to recalculate your numbers and/or how to file for an appeal or review.
