Construction crews have gotten off to a strong start in building the new west/northbound lanes of the Highway 218/18/27/Avenue of the Saints interchange at Floyd.
Pete Hjelmstad with the Mason City District Office of the Iowa DOT says that, other than some minor weather interruptions, work has been steadily progressing since it started about a month ago.
Hjelmstad says the progress thus far is a nod to the efforts of the project contractor, Cedar Valley Corporation of Waterloo.
Work on the new west/northbound lanes is expected to continue into November. During the construction, traffic is now in a head-to-head pattern on those new east/southbound lanes constructed last year.Â
