A north Iowa woman is dead and two others were injured following a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Clear Lake.
The Iowa State Patrol says the wreck occurred near the intersection of Highway 18 and Four Winds Drive at about 12:30 pm Friday. Killed was 65-year-old Diane Schmidt , who was driving a van when it crossed the centerline, sideswiped a car driven by 61-year-old Dennis Ostrem, and then collided head on with a pickup driven by 60-year-old Tom Richardson.
All three drivers, all from Garner, were transported by ambulance to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City with critical injuries. Schmidt died at the hospital.
Clear Lake police, fire department and EMS also assisted at the scene.
